DEPLETION OF OZONE LAYER The ozone layer protects the Earth from the Sun’s harmful ultraviolet rays. It acts as a shield for Earth and because of this, it plays a massive role in helping to preserve life on our planet. Most part of the ozone layer stays within the stratosphere where it acts as a shield and protects the Earth’s surface from harmful ultraviolet rays of the Sun. If the ozone layer keeps weakening, we will all be more prone to impaired immune system and skin cancer. There is also a growing hole in the ozone layer which enables more and more harmful UV rays of the sun to reach the Earth’s surface. This also causes global warming. Because of this, the Earth is experiencing excessive melting of glaciers and extended summer days.
